Stuck on a chess problem
I just spent the last hour trying to beat this one chess position and I'm about to pull my hair out. It's a simple endgame, white has a king and a pawn, black has a king. The pawn is on the seventh rank, but for some reason I just can't seem to get it to promote. I've tried every move I can think of and it always seems to end in stalemate. Has anyone else ever run into this problem? What's the trick here?
chess endgames are so underrated
imo, people dont give enough credit to endgames in chess. like, i know its not as flashy as some crazy opening combo, but being able to convert a small advantage into a win is such a key part of the game. anyone else feel like this??
frustrating chess match
just had a match where i kept getting trapped in a loop of bishop pins rn... like i know i shouldve just castled but idk lol cant believe i lost to a simple tactic like that
Chess.com auto‑advance is ruining my blitz
I was in a 3+2 game last night, and the system forced me to move after 10 seconds even though I was still calculating. I ended up losing a few games that I would have won if I had a few more seconds. Anyone else feel like the auto‑advance is a hack to make people lose? I’m not sure if this is a bug or a new feature, but it’s annoying. Let me know if you’re seeing the same thing or if it’s just me.
Just cracked the case of my chess opening repertoire vs the Italian Game
I've been diving deep into true crime podcasts and somehow it made me realize my chess openings needed a revamp... I was getting checkmated by my own moves. Listened to a recent episode on the BTK killer and it got me thinking about strategic patterns. So, I decided to switch up my white pieces' starting moves. Switched from the King's Pawn to the Italian Game. Ran some test games on Lichess, 5/5 wins so far... FWIW, my opponent pool is mostly <1500 rated. Anyone else use the Italian Game? What's your favorite line?...
pre‑moving in chess is just the cyclist's excuse for never actually riding
fr so everyone acts all deep analyzing every opening like they're planning a century‑long bike tour but in reality they never get off the couch rn. spend hours on engine evals while your bike gathers dust, tbh it’s just an ego trip lol
Help: How can I use Stockfish 14 evaluation data to secure a bike touring gig?
so i’ve been on a lot of tours but can’t find a paid ride rn my bike is a SRAM Red eTap AXS 20‑speed w/ 32‑56 cassette thinks about turning chess brain into networking stockfish 14 on my laptop, using –depth 35 to show engine “certainty” like 0.8 win for white idea: present data like an opening line (e4 c5, or QGD) to show ‘positioning’ skills to a rental company does anybody get a hire if they talk about pawn structure vs ride logistics? any tips on tweeting the idea that i 'understand positioning and I’m ready for the trail' or should i just post a graph with engine nodes? lmk need a reply, i can’t keep riding solo forever, help pls lol
