How can I remember irregular Spanish past participles?

I keep mixing 'escrito' and 'escribido'... both feel right. Flashcards help a bit, but they blur after a week. Any mnemonic or method that actually sticks?? I study ~30 mins daily, still slip up.

Homework is a waste of time, apparently

As a teacher with 12 years in the trenches, I've watched the same pattern repeat: students who dutifully tackle piles of worksheets often lag behind peers who skip them The 2015 PISA data shows no clear link between daily homework hours and higher reading or math scores. In my own experiment, I dropped homework for a semester and saw no grade drop—engagement actually spiked.

The assumption that more hours equals better learning comes from an outdated, rote‑repetition model, not modern cognition. Spaced repetition and retrieval practice matter, yet homework rarely employs these strategies; it turns into busywork.

If we want deeper understanding, we should swap worksheets for guided reflection or project work—activities that align with Bloom's taxonomy. Students who write brief reflections after lessons retain about 30% more information than those who grind through drills.

So why do we still do this? It feels like a relic that kills curiosity, not a tool for learning.

Calligraphy fail

I've been practicing calligraphy for a while now and I just realized I've been holding my nib wrong the entire time. I mean, it's not like it's been obvious or anything, but I was looking at some videos and I saw how they were holding it and I'm like, what have I been doing? It's no wonder my lines have been so shaky. I guess you could say I've been winging it. I'm kinda embarrassed about it, but at least I know now. Anyone else ever have a moment like that?

i thought 'legs' meant something else lol

so i was at a tasting last week and kept hearing people talk about the legs on the glass i assumed they were talking about the wine's origin or some fancy term for aroma turns out legs are just the droplets that run down the side after you swirl indicating alcohol level i felt kinda dumb when the sommelier explained it tbh i still check the glass for legs out of habit but now i actually know what i’m looking at anyone else had a similar facepalm moment

accidentally treated a café like a wine bar bruh

truth i walked into a third-wave spot last week and tried to pair my doppio with a 'charcuterie board' lmao bought in by the vibe they tryna sell w the $3 beans labeled like wine bottles i was soooo off tbh staff just let me prattle on about nuttyness like it was my latte or something lesson learned: real people just ask for the strongest dark roast they got and dont touch pastry unless itll be devoured 2second flat
