imo most wines i've tried lately have been pretty meh tbh, need something to wake up my taste buds lol. someone give me a wine thatll actually make me feel something, doesnt have to be expensive or anything

i've been doing that for a while, but i'm not sure if it's a thing or just me overthinking it lol

when i pour a glass i usually take a big sip, let it sit, then do a second sip to see if the flavor changes

is that normal or am i just messing around with my own palate rn

fr just did the classic 2020 en primeur vs 2018 amarone test i poured the old amarone into a cheap clear plastic cup, swirled like a pretentious sommelier, sniffed, and bam—same black‑cherry notes, but with half the tannins tbh maybe it's the CVI 19.03 buffer on the cork or just my brain adjusting to the OIV pH shift anyone else seen the decanter‑effect disappear when you ditch the crystal goblet? rn waiting for the forum's elite to debunk my 'plastic palate' theory lol

idk just tried the new tasting kit from that app and they matched a fullbodied red with a lemon tart - like they forgot the basics lol i dont know if it's the devs or just my palate but it's a weird mix

after the weekend tasting event i noticed the oak‑aged reds had a more complex nose with vanilla, cedar, and subtle spice while the stainless steel ones stayed cleaner with bright fruit and crisp acidity i think the oak gives more depth to the aroma but also masks some fruit nuance tbh if you want a richer nose go oak but if you want to hear every berry note go steel which do you prefer for aroma richness?

so i just poured a 2019 pinot noir that i had been waiting on after messing with my usual glass size tbh i switched to the smaller 750ml and wow the fruit came through sharper like a fresh berry jam i got the temperature right and it finally cut that green undertone out lol

i feel like i finally cracked the balancing act of sweetness and acidity my ears are buzzing with possibilities for more trials rn
