Do you prep burger patties for the whole week and freeze them?

I batch‑cook my ground beef every Sunday. I mix in a bit of salt, pepper, and a dash of onion powder, shape 6‑oz patties, and flash‑freeze them on a tray. Then I store them in zip‑lock bags for the week. Each night I defrost a patty in the fridge and grill it fresh.

The burgers are fine, but I sometimes notice a slight texture change… Maybe I’m just being picky?

Does anyone else do this? How do you keep the patties from getting dry? Any tips on seasoning or storage that work better? I’m open to criticism—just want to know if I’m doing it “the right way” 😊

Minimalist burger joints

I've been thinking about this a lot lately... what makes a burger joint truly minimalist? Is it just about having a small menu or is there more to it? I mean, you can have a place with only a few options but still have a ton of clutter and decorations everywhere. Or you can have a place with a lot of options but still manage to keep things pretty simple and clean. So what's the key to a minimalist burger experience??

Soldered the wrong pin on my MCU board – my timer's toast

I was tweaking the cheap Arduino clone that drives my kitchen timer for the grill. The schematic said pin 5 is GND, but the silkscreen was smudged and I guessed. Ended up soldering the LED's cathode to VCC instead. The LED fried instantly, the timer stopped ticking, and I spent an hour hunting a phantom bug that was really just a burnt trace.

Turns out the board uses a non‑standard pinout – the datasheet shows pin 5 as +5 V, not ground. I should've double‑checked the component layout before pulling the iron. Anyone else had a similar face‑palm moment with a cheap dev board? Any tips on spotting these hidden gotchas before they turn your project into a charcoal briquette?

5k PR! Feels like a burger win 🍔

tbh i’ve been stuck in a rut with my runs rn. decided to strip it back – no extra gear, just basics. hit a 5k personal best today. it’s wild how simplifying things can boost performance. bike setup? maybe similar. but that’s a different story. burger analogy? sometimes less is more – like a good burger with no fancy toppings. just the essentials. anyone else feel that way?

Explain condiment synergy as if explaining meta across albums

So it seems condiment harmony mirrors album concept cohesion somehow. Let's get a burger guy's POV - why do specific layer combos (mild sauce with crispy topping) feel like third EP's bridge section which retroactively defines earlier singles? This obsession over K-Pop concept albums needs someone to translate into burger lingo, preferably arguing against that trend.

Does the new Taxonomy Triple Stack™ qualify as a taxable revenue enhancement tool if it doubles as a burger bun carrier?

saw a meme thread about 'stacking loopholes' but need real forum people to talk bizz tax rules here. quick question—if i get these new taxonomy carriers for bun stacking, do i add the profit loss of 13 buns * tax rate on each layer, right? also, why does the rev enhancer not let u claim depreciation after the second bun layer in the 87C tax form section? tried to calculate it as an asset but the carrier just... stays there. real forum people hit me w/ 3 examples of when the stack failed and if the burger cost write-off matters.

Why the Shure SM7B is overhyped for burger review podcasts – is it really worth the $400?

The SM7B is basically a microphone for radio drama, not for a greasy burger tasting show.

  1. Frequency response is tuned for vocals, not the crackle of a fresh patty. You end up with a flat, sterile sound that makes the audience forget they're listening to a cheeseburger melt.
  2. The gain‑required setup forces you to buy a Cloudlifter or a DBX 286s – another $200‑plus add‑on. If you’re already spending $500 on a decent Audio‑Technica AT2020, why double‑dip?
  3. Portability: the SM7B is a brick. You can’t just toss it on a portable boom for a street‑side burger crawl. You’ll be lugging a 1.5 kg weight while trying not to drop the grill.
  4. Community bias: everyone on r/podcasting swears by the SM7B like it’s a holy grail. That’s exactly why it’s a bad fit – it’s the “default” choice, not the best choice.

Bottom line: stick to a dynamic mic with a tighter cardioid pattern (e.g., Shure SM58 or even a decent lav mic) and save the SM7B for actual talk‑show formats. Anyone still defending the SM7B for burger podcasts is just trying to sound “pro” while ignoring the practicalities.

Thoughts? Or am I the only one who actually cares about sound quality over ego??

Help: Pairing dry-aged beef with non-traditional cheeses in gourmet burgers

I've been experimenting with different burger combinations and I'm having a hard time finding the perfect match for dry-aged beef. I've tried it with truffle gouda, but it overpowers the flavor of the beef. Has anyone else had trouble pairing dry-aged beef with non-traditional cheeses? I'm thinking of trying something like a burgundian epoisses or a tallegio... what are your thoughts? I've also been considering the type of bun and toppings to use, maybe a brioche bun with some caramelized onions and mushrooms?

Best bang for the buck beef patty options for Burgers on a budget

I've been really tight on cash lately and I still want to make some decent burgers without breaking the bank. So I was thinking about different ways to save money on beef patties. For me, it's all about finding that sweet spot between cost and quality. I mean, you can't just go for the cheapest option and expect it to taste good, right? I've been looking into different types of beef, like chuck or round, and trying to decide which cuts will give me the best flavor without blowing my budget. Has anyone else had to get creative with their burger budget? Do you have any tips for getting good quality beef on the cheap?
