Help: Prusa MK4 keeps crashing on first layer, firmware 2.0.1

prusa mk4 keeps crashing on first layer, i swear i updated firmware 2.0.1 and set z offset to 0.02, still fails

i've been doing this for a month now, and every time i hit print the nozzle jumps, the print stops, and the slicer spits out a new g‑code that looks the same as the last

  • firmware 2.0.1 is supposedly stable, but the community keeps posting the same error logs
  • z offset 0.02 is the recommended value, yet the bed still feels off
  • i tried retraction 0.8mm, 10mm/s, but the first layer still warps
  • i even switched from cura to prusaslicer, same thing

so why does this happen? is it a hardware issue, a firmware bug, or just my lack of patience? i need a fix, not a tutorial

anyone else dealing with this? drop a comment, i need to know if i should replace the motherboard or just keep rebooting

thanks in advance, i’m tired of this loop rn

Frustrating investor meeting

I just got out of a meeting with a potential investor for my startup and I'm still trying to process how it went. We've been preparing for weeks, tweaking our pitch and financials, but it felt like they weren't even paying attention. They kept asking questions that we had already answered in our deck, and when we tried to delve deeper into our strategy, they cut us off. It was like they had already made up their minds before we even started. Has anyone else had an experience like this?? Are investors just not taking risks on new entrepreneurs anymore... or are we just not doing something right?

supplier drama

i'm so done with suppliers rn, feels like they're just trying to take advantage of new entrepreneurs... anyone else having issues with reliability and communication? maybe i'm just having a bad streak lol

Networking advice feels transactional these days—any other entrepreneurs tired of 'just connect more'?

I feel like I’ve heard the same career advice looped back at me so many times it’s lost its meaning. ‘Build your network,’ they say. ‘Attend more events,’ they suggest. But here’s the thing: after three years of cold-emailing VCs, swapping business cards at conferences, and joining every LinkedIn group under the sun, I’m left with spreadsheets full of contacts who never reply and ‘follow-up’ emails that vanish into the void. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I’m overcomplicating it, but the ‘networking as a numbers game’ strategy feels… hollow. I’ve met founders who built real rapport by focusing on one niche community and nurturing slow, deliberate relationships. Meanwhile, I’m burning through my calendar chasing ‘strategic connections’ that never materialize into anything. Is everyone else just better at this ‘soft skill,’ or are we being sold a myth that visibility equals opportunity?

I’m not arguing against networking—obviously, it matters. But what if the problem isn’t that we’re not networking enough? What if the system is designed to reward the already-connected? I’d love to hear how others balance proactive outreach with the reality of limited time and energy. Any frameworks or hard-learned lessons here?

why does every startup feel like a remix

i keep seeing the same 3 buzzwords pop up in pitches rn tbh it's like deja vu on repeat i wonder if we're just remixing old models instead of daring something truly new

frustrated with supplier drama

i'm so done with these suppliers rn... i've been trying to launch my vegan ice cream brand for months now and every time i think i've found a reliable supplier for coconut milk, they flake on me or raise their prices lol. i feel like i'm getting taken advantage of because i'm a small business. anyone else have to deal with this? maybe i'm just being too nice and need to be more aggressive in my negotiations... idk tbh

Stuck on veggie stock taxes

Got into a mess today trying to figure out the tax stuff for the veggie stock I sold from my side hustle. First thought it’d be a walk in the park, but now it feels like a maze of forms, deadlines, and questions no one bothered to answer. I’m just looking at the ledger, and every line starts pulling me back into research on how to file everything correctly. Feeling like I'm wasting a chunk of time that could be spent building the next iteration. Anyone else gone through a similar grind? What did you end up doing?

How do recent education policy shifts toward project-based learning compare to traditional compliance-driven models in fostering entrepreneurial skills? 🚀

So I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately—new education policies are pushing project-based learning (PBL) in schools, but a lot of older systems still rely on compliance-driven models. From what I’ve seen in startup circles, PBL teaches problem-solving, teamwork, and real-world application, which are gold for entrepreneurs. Compliance models? They’re all about following steps and hitting standards, which is fine for some stuff but misses the ‘think on your feet’ muscle.

Example: A PBL class might build a business plan from scratch, while a compliance class drills standardized tests. Which one preps kids for launching a side hustle? 🤔

I’m curious how y’all see these policies impacting the next gen of founders. Are we creating innovators or just better test-takers? Let’s chat. 👇

rant: when entrepreneurship meets fine dining

tbh rn i'm so frustrated with the state of entrepreneurship and fine dining lol like i love both but theyre so different right? one's all about taking risks and innovating and the other's about perfection and tradition... and when you try to combine them it's just a mess imo maybe it's just me but i feel like every time i try to open a restaurant or a food truck or whatever it's all about the business side and not about the food itself and that's just not what i'm passionate about rn i mean don't get me wrong i love making money and all but shouldnt it be about the experience too? the ambiance the service the actual taste of the food? idk maybe i'm just idealistic but it feels like nowadays it's all about the bottom line and not about the people or the product lol sorry for the rant i guess i just needed to vent a bit

why do solopreneurs struggle with scalability rn

imo, one reason solopreneurs struggle with scalability is bc they dont outsource early enuf tbh, i was talking to a friend whos a dev and theyre still handling all the client comms themselves its like, i get it, youre used to doing everything urself, but thats not sustainable if u wanna grow i feel like people need to focus on building a team, even if its just a va or a freelancer, to help with the workload anyone else have thoughts on this? ive been thinking about this a lot lately and id love to hear from ppl whove been in similar shoes

Why does my Prusa MK3S+ keep jamming on PETG? [Solved?]

tbh this is so annoying i just spent 3 hours debugging my printer and im not even close to satisfied... petg is supposed to be 'easy' but my nozzle keeps clogging like its 2018 all over again?? i got the prusa mmu2 setup and its basically a paperweight now because the filament keeps oozing like a bad breakup... anyone else have this issue with the 0.4mm nozzle? i tried 220c temp and 25mm/s speed but its still jamming harder than a creality ender-3 v2 on 100% infill... and dont even get me started on the 'magic' retraction settings they recommend... 1.5mm retraction distance? more like 1.5mm of hope that it actually retracts lol... if youve fixed this let me know rn before i throw my printer into a lake
