i was practicin a new card trick and i keep messin up the shuffle lol anyone have tips on how to get it just right? i feel like im doin everythin right but it just dont look smooth

Tried pulling off a quick card vanish using a chocolate bar as the 'misdirection' prop today. Thought it’d be a fun twist – the bar looks solid, I flip it, the card disappears. Only problem? The bar was sitting in the sun for a bit, started softening, and when I tried the sleight it just crumbled in my hand. The audience saw a half‑melted mess instead of a clean vanish, and the whole routine fell apart. Anyone else had a prop betray you at the worst possible moment? How do you recover when the very thing you’re using to hide the trick becomes the punchline?
