Help: Feeling guilty over calling a thrifted jacket pre-worn when it wasn't
So here’s the thing: I was at the local thrift shop last Saturday, scrolling through racks of denim and leather. I spotted a vintage Levi’s 501 jacket (the tag says 301, that’s the 1970‑s batch) that looked like a true pre‑worn classic. I bought it on impulse, and later that night, I wrote down on my phone, ‘#pre‑worn, good vibes only’—thinking it would just be a quick note for my next post.
I didn’t actually check the interior stitching or the label inside. Turns out the jacket is brand‑new, but the outer fabric has a subtle, almost invisible, seam tear. The next day my boyfriend showed it to a friend, who said, “That’s a fresh 2018 model, not a vintage.” The sting was immediate. I started questioning whether I had been dishonest with myself and with the community about the jacket’s authenticity.
It’s a small thing, but I keep replaying the moment in my head. I keep thinking “I’ve betrayed the thrift‑culture spirit, and I’ve betrayed my own values.” I’ve never felt this kind of self‑scrutiny over a jacket before. I feel the pressure of a small mistake becoming a symbol of how I present myself.
I’m not asking for a huge critique—just a little perspective. Should I own the mistake, put a small sticker on the jacket that says ‘pre‑worn mistake’ as a joke, or should I just be honest and say, ‘I mislabeled it’ in my next post? Or maybe I should ignore it entirely and hope nobody notices? I’m anxious that this tiny faux pas is reflecting on my whole identity as a thrifter and as a person who’s trying to live sustainably.
Any advice on coping with the guilt, or how to re‑frame a small misstep like this in the broader context of mental wellness? Also, if anyone’s gone through a similar “pre‑worn confession” or felt like they’re being judged for a thrift‑shop blunder, let me know. I’m looking for honest feedback, not just a “don’t worry, it’s fine.”
Thanks in advance.
therapy is overrated imo
ngl tbh i've been thinkin about this alot lately and i feel like therapy gets pushed on ppl way too much i mean its not for everyone and i think we need to stop actin like its the only solution to mental health issues ive seen ppl go to therapy for years and not really make any progress its like were so focused on talkin about our feelings that we forget to actually do stuff that helps us get better
Small win with mindfulness
I've been struggling to quiet my mind at night, but I finally found something that works. Focusing on my breath, I can calm my thoughts. It's not a cure-all, but it's a start. I'm tired of feeling like I'm drowning in my own head. This small victory gives me hope.
my therapist's 15‑minute check‑in felt like a rushed speed‑date
tbh so i just walked into my weekly session and the therapist was already looking at her phone like she's got a meeting at noon she never said anything about a break after 3 sessions lol i feel like everyone’s trying to squeeze a hundred minutes of self‑care into 10 and calling it progress honestly it's exhausting when the place that’s supposed to help you actually feels like a fast‑food drive‑thru anyone else had this vibe lately? i’m over the scripted minutes
therapy made me worse? thoughts?
like i get the appeal right? free talky-time with someone who’s supposed to help?? but what if it’s just... not for you?? bruh i spent 3 mos going to some hot mess who kept gaslighting me into thinking my anxiety was 'normal' ??? i left feeling more lost than when i started... why is everyone so quick to say therapy ‘saved’ them when it’s literally a 50/50 if you get a competent human ???
Warped print with new PLA
So I've been noticing that my 3D prints have been warping pretty badly lately, and I've isolated the issue to my new batch of PLA filament. I've tried messing with the bed temperature and the first layer gap, but nothing seems to be working. I've also made sure that my print bed is level and that my belts are properly tightened. Does anyone have any experience with warping using PLA? What are some common issues that could be causing this? I'm pretty sure it's not the filament itself, since it's from a reputable brand, but maybe there's something I'm missing? I've been printing with ABS for so long, I feel like I've forgotten some of the nuances of working with PLA. Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be great, thanks!

therapy group ran forever and i ended up fried
so the group chat went on for like an eternity last night and i actually lost my caffeine lol i was only there to get quick tips on self care but it felt more like a 2 hr marathon 💤
i asked my therapist about setting limits and the admin said no restrictions and kept looping. the noise level + too much eye contact with strangers made me want to hop off. i know everyone is in different place but does someone else feel like every session is a marathon?? it s kinda draining, I know
feel like i'm paying attention to the thread that doesn't exist and just do an autopilot reply that actually takes an hour. is this the new norm for online therapy?? maybe i should just head to the gym instead??
i know it's silly, i'm just over here with two texts at a time but... any advice on setting boundaries during a session? also for sure worth sharing to anyone who wants a break??
How can I stop the constant “what‑if” spiral when I’m trying to relax?
I’ve been trying to unwind after work – maybe read a book or listen to some music – but as soon as I sit down my mind jumps to a loop of ‘what if this goes wrong, what if I’m not good enough, what if I mess up tomorrow’. It feels like I’m stuck in this mental treadmill and it totally kills the chill I’m after. Does anyone have concrete tricks or routines that actually break the cycle? I’ve tried counting breaths, but my thoughts just keep popping up. Any small habits or mindset shifts that helped you pull the plug on the spiral?
Mental health and self care
I've been thinking a lot about mental health lately... and I feel like one of the biggest hurdles for me is figuring out what actually works for self care?? Is it just a matter of finding that one thing that clicks, or is it more about being consistent with a bunch of small habits? I've tried journaling, meditation, and exercise... but sometimes it feels like I'm just going through the motions. Maybe I'm just not doing it 'right'? Do others feel like they've found a sweet spot with their self care, or is it something that's always a work in progress?
any solid self‑compassion apps for anxiety?
fr i've tried a bunch of meditation stuff but still feel stuck when panic hits looking for something that actually teaches self‑compassion, not just background noise anyone using an app that helped you actually change the inner dialogue? also open to tips on how to stick with it, cuz i keep dropping after a week tbh i doubt most of these are any good, so prove me wrong
mental health in the tech world
so i was reading about blockchain development and how its changing the game but whats really getting to me is how little people talk about the mental health aspect of it all these devs are pushing themselves to the limit and nobodys really checking in on them
why do ai models like openai's gotta have such shitty rate limits??
tbh i'm still fuming about the rate limit issues with openai's model.. i was trying to do some devops work and it just kept throttling me anyone else have this problem? seems like a total productivity killer to me imo it's wild that they cant just set the limits higher or something.. is it really that hard to scale??
finally got a decent birding spot rn
so i've been trying to get into birdwatching for a bit now and i finally found a spot with some actual variety lol. i mean i've been going to the same ol park near my place but it's just pigeons and sparrows. anyways i stumbled upon this nature preserve on the outskirts of town and omg there's like 20 diff species there. i'm no expert but i saw some warblers and a red-tailed hawk which is a win for me. anyone else have any secret spots they'd wanna share?
What's the best way to get started with wood burning for DIY crafts?
I've been itching to try wood burning for my DIY projects, but I have no idea where to start. I've seen some really cool designs online, but I don't know what kind of equipment I need or how to achieve those smooth lines and shading effects. Can anyone recommend some beginner-friendly tools or tutorials? I'd love to hear about your experiences with wood burning and any tips you have for a total newbie.
Daily Writing is Overrated
Daily writing routines force creativity into a mold. The best work often comes from letting ideas gestate in the background. Insisting on constant output prioritizes volume over depth. I've seen drafts crumble under the weight of forced consistency. Let the process breathe.
does gamifying therapy turn us into dopamine addicts? 🤔
just saw my 102‑day streak snap on the app ‘Therape‑Loop’ because i missed a work shift and suddenly the notification balloon said ‘keep the momentum – you’ve got this!’
sick with it kinda feels like my brain is a gamified scoreboard… someone else complains that it’s the reward that feeds the anxiety not the reverse
maybe i just don’t like being ticked off 2️⃣‑stars for losing my mojo
imho what you guys think 🤷♂️
why does dialectical behavior therapy barely address neuroscience behind emotional dysregulation
i feel like dbt is super helpful for alot of ppl but it doesnt really go into the neuroscientific aspects of emotional dysregulation like how neurotransmitter imbalances or cortisol affects the brain maybe someone can explain to me why thats the case or if theres a specific reason why marsha linehan didnt incorporate more neuroscientific principles into the therapy rn i cant help but think it would be more effetive if we understood the biological aspect of our emotions lol
Just nuked my homelab's MITM proxy setup with HAProxy 2.8—why does my anxiety spike when I break TLS pinning?
so i spent 12 hrs yesterday reconfiguring my homelab's mitm proxy to use haproxy 2.8 instead of 1.8 and tbh it was a hot mess but i did it. like the certs are finally chaining properly and the ocsp stapling isn't throwing errors anymore. but bruh when i broke tls pinning on my test container just to see if the logging would catch it... my heart rate literally jumped 20bpm. is that normal? i mean i get that tls pinning is supposed to be a pain but why does it feel like i'm cheating on a test or something? someone tell me this isn't just me being neurotic. also why do i care so much about haproxy's ssl deep inspection when it's just a hobby project? maybe mental health professionals need to stop telling us to 'just relax' when we're dealing with cryptographic edge cases. like wtf even is a 'session resumption ticket' at 2am anyway
